I recently acquired a British red ensign illustrated here. It is 45x90
inches, 70 denier Canadian type nylon and was made by Scythes. Rob Raeside and
I have corresponded about this flag and reckon that it might have been made up
as one of the 4000 plus proposals for a NWT flag during the territory's flag
contest. If anyone could shed more light on the subject, we would be
interested in hearing from you.

This proposal was submitted to the NWT Flag Committee in late 1968.
Layout: A clean, counter-changed horizontal bicolor split layout featuring a
prominent circle.
Symmetry & Elements: Unlike the later
Flag of Greenland (which utilizes a similar framework but shifts the disk to
the hoist and places the dark band at the base), my design was engineered with
perfect vertical and horizontal symmetry. It features a solid bright magenta
(possibly more blue) top half representing the sky, a white bottom half
representing the ice, and a centered counter-changed disk symbolizing the high
midnight sun resting over the horizon.
