The outline of a triangle pointing downwards evokes the initial letter of the municipality's name. In medieval alchemy, such a triangle signified pure water—one of the fundamental elements of the world upon which life in its various forms is based. The oak leaves represent one of Estonia’s largest oak forests, located in Vinni Municipality. More broadly, the oak leaves symbolize the industriousness and diligence of the local people—qualities that have long been rewarded with fruitful outcomes (symbolized by acorns), both in the realm of education and in actual agriculture. The silver of the shield signifies purity and hope, while the green of the heraldic figures represents a closeness to nature and youthfulness.
