Master of Education (Counselling)
Credentialing and Employment
1. Certification
Graduates of the Counselling program are eligible to seek
certification as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian
Counselling Association and as a Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) with the
Nova Scotia Association of Counselling Therapists.
Students are responsible for ensuring that they meet the requirements
for certification in other provinces or jurisdiction in which they
intend to work after graduation.
2.
Employment
References for employment can be obtained
from Counselling Faculty. Please request permission from individual
faculty members and notify them of specific applications. A copy of your
resume should be given to a faculty member providing a reference.
3.
Applications to PhD or other Master’s Programs
Faculty regularly provide references to
students applying to PhD or other graduate programs. Please provide
faculty with reference forms in a timely fashion. Universities and
programs often have different deadlines. It is the student’s
responsibility to ensure that the reference has been submitted. This can
be done via email or telephone call to the faculty member concerned.
