Assignments and Evaluation

You must write two essays of 1000-1500 words during the term. I encourage you to write more than two essays. I will count your two highest marks if you do write more. 60% of the mark comes from the assignments. If you would like to make a short (10 minute) class presentation on one of the texts covered, you must sign up after the first class. We can discuss a more specific topic prior to the presentation. The reward for an in-class presentation is 10% off the final exam. The exam is worth 40%; if you make an in-class presentation it will be worth 30%.

You have to read all the texts. On the exam you will be asked to write on the texts you did not write on for your essays. Those who write more than two essays during the term can choose those texts to write on again along with the texts they have not yet written on.
