Writing and Reading Critically

Fall Term

Assignments and Evaluation

You are required to write two 1000-1500 word essays during the term on two of the texts we will study. I will hand out the topics on the dates given below. You will write on four other texts in the final three-hour examination. You may write more than two essays and I encourage you to do so. The advantages are twofold: you will be preparing for the examination and you will be gaining practice in writing.

60% of the mark comes from the assignments; 40% comes from the final examination.
