NS) - Xerox Canada today announced its commitment
of $250,000 to the K.C. Irving Environmental Trust, a priority of
Acadia University’s Tides are Turning Capital Campaign. Xerox
presented the first of five annual $50,000 cheques to Acadia
University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb.
“I would like to thank
Xerox Canada for supporting Acadia’s vision to integrate
environmental stewardship and community engagement into our teaching
and learning practices,” said Dr. Dinter-Gottlieb. “We are one step
closer to reaching our goal for the K.C. Irving Environmental Trust
and our success truly depends on the confidence and generosity of
partners like Xerox Canada. This donation allows us to continue to
provide our students with a quality, personalized educational
experience in our complex world.”
Xerox Canada has been
a long-time supporter of Acadia University and its learning
environment which promotes information technology literacy in the
classroom.

The K.C. Irving
Environmental Trust will support special programs and research
initiatives by faculty and students at the K.C. Irving Environmental
Science Centre and the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens, its various
programs and its community outreach. This unique complex serves as
an important teaching and resource facility concentrating on the
ecology and native flora of the “Acadian Forest Region” of Northeast
North America, and as a central campus meeting place and conference
centre. The growing K.C. Irving Environmental Trust Fund will
bolster Acadia University’s ability to be a champion of
environmental education at the post-secondary level.
Acadia University is
committed to integrating environmental stewardship and community
engagement into the undergraduate learning environment. To help
achieve this vision, the Tides are Turning Capital Campaign
priorities include Campus Redevelopments, the Learning Commons and
Academic Initiatives, the K.C. Irving Environmental Trust Fund,
Student Life Initiatives including Athletics Excellence, and Student
Scholarships and Financial Aid.
Xerox Canada is a
significant employer in Atlantic Canada, operating two North
