(Wolfville, NS) - Area
students from Halifax to Yarmouth, ages 9 to 17, will compete
tomorrow in two robot programming competitions on Acadia’s campus.
The 2nd Acadia High
School Robot Programming Competition will feature 14 high school
student teams competing with one another to program robots to
complete timed challenges.
The 1st Annual
FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) Nano Quest Challenge will
feature 14 teams of students ages 9-14. To successfully complete the
Challenge, teams must build and program a LEGO MINDSTORMS®
robot to explore nanotechnology and the amazing solutions this
newest frontier of science and technology can make possible.
Challenge missions include manipulating individual atoms; clothes
that never get dirty; an elevator to outer space; and cures for
disease. Through hands-on experience and working in teams, students
have a chance to explore a real-world issue through research and
robotic programming to gain an appreciation for and interest in
science and technology.
