NS) - Acadia University will host the opening of an exhibition of Costumes of Chinese Ethnic Groups on Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 at 3 p.m. in the Acadia University Art Gallery, Beveridge Arts Centre, Wolfville.
This unique display features reproductions of traditional costumes on loan from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Canada. Costumes from this collection have been on exhibit in cities across Canada, including Montreal and Toronto. The display can be viewed January 17th to 29th, Tuesday to Sunday 1-4 p.m.
The opening will also feature a performance by Acadia students Wenyi Zheng (Catherine) and Jianlei Liu (Joy) playing the zither and the Chinese dulcimer.
The exhibition is part of the New Moon Festival: Reflections of an Ancient Culture presented by The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts with Acadia University. This celebration of Chinese Canadian arts and culture opens January 15th at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts with family art activities led by the Mu Lan Chinese Cultural Centre of Halifax, along with students from Acadia University.
