Acadia’s Continuing and Distance Education Division Launches Professional Development Program for Business

 

(Wolfville, NS) -    Acadia University’s Division of Continuing and Distance Education today announced a new program of management and professional development courses for adult learners.

The Division of Continuing and Distance Education is working with Acadia’s Manning School of Business, the Acadia Centre for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ACSBE) and the User Support Centre to provide courses and certificates in Management Development, Business Communication and Small Business Management, Microsoft Office Specialist Certification, Train the Trainer and customized training programs.

“These programs are geared to professionals looking for practical and hands on programs that will provide them with tools that can be immediately used in the workplace,” said Kim Rose, Division Director. “Courses will be offered starting in November 2006 and continue throughout the year. In addition to these excellent programs, the Division also provides customized training including program consultation, management, instruction and facilitation, all with the added benefit of flexible locations and scheduling.”

Faculty from the Manning School of Business have developed and are facilitating a Management Development Series which includes courses such as Brand Management, Cross-cultural Communications and Online Competitive Intelligence.

The Acadia Centre for Small Business and Entrepreneurship has developed two certificate programs. The Certificate in Communication is designed to help professionals develop strategies specific to their communication needs and goals. The Small Business Management Certificate Program addresses the business lifecycle from opportunity identification to growth and market expansion.

Acadia’s User Support Centre will offer the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification program to individuals and organizations interested in improving their workplace productivity and working smarter by more fully utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
