(Wolfville,
NS) - Acadia University and Service Employees
International Union (SEIU) Local 902, today announced that they have
reached a tentative collective agreement for the period May 1, 2005
to June 30, 2008.
“This was an important
collective bargaining session for our members,” said Rosie Hare,
Local 902 Chairperson. “Difficult issues were confronted in a
respectful and cordial manner. The end result is a superior
contract.”
“I want to
congratulate both negotiating teams for their hard work and
determination to reach an agreement in a timely and responsible
manner,” said Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb, President and
Vice-Chancellor of Acadia.
Details of the
agreement are not being disclosed at this time pending ratification
by the members of Local 902 and Acadia’s Board of Governors. It is
expected that the outcome of these ratifications will be known prior
to October 20, 2005.
