(Wolfville,
NS) - Acadia University and Service Employees
International Union Local 902 today announced they have ratified a
new collective agreement covering the period May 1, 2005 to June 30,
2008.
The new agreement,
endorsed by the University’s Board of Governors and 96 per cent of
union members, included several important changes. The highlights of
these changes are:

A three per cent
salary increase in each of the three years of the agreement;

Inclusion of SEIU
members in Acadia’s Health Spending Account benefit package,
beginning January 1, 2006;
-
A memorandum of
understanding between the parties to review and update
specifications for bargaining unit job classifications;
-
Recognition of
seniority within job classification and grade in lay-off provisions;
and
-
Two additional paid
holidays to be taken over the December holiday break.
