WWII cenotaph to be unveiled at Acadia University

(Wolfville, NS) -  In celebration of the Year of the Veteran, Acadia University will mark the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII with a Veteran's Commemorative Reunion August 12th to 14th to acknowledge the sacrifices of Acadia graduates and their comrades who served and died protecting Canadian values.

A highlight of the reunion will be the unveiling of a new monument, a companion to the existing WWI stone at War Memorial Gymnasium, during a remembrance ceremony led by Acadia Chaplain Rev. Roger Prentice on Saturday, August 13th at 2 p.m. on the south side of the War Memorial Gymnasium. Wolfville Mayor Bob Stead, the Honourable Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, and the Honourable David Morse, Minister of Community Services will also participate in the ceremonies.

The establishment of a WWII cenotaph at Acadia University was the dream of the late Robbins Elliott ('41) who served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders.
