Newly appointed Canada Foundation for Innovation CEO to recognize researchers at Acadia University

 

(Wolfville, NS) -  Dr. Eliot Phillipson, President and CEO of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), will be in Nova Scotia Monday, February 28th at Acadia University to recognize Acadia researchers who have recently been awarded funding by the CFI.

An awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the K.C. Irving Centre Auditorium. Dr. Phillipson will meet with faculty, students and community representatives, and discuss the role of the CFI in the governments’ innovation strategy and its impact on Canadian research activity.

Dr. Phillipson became the third President and CEO of the CFI in July 2004. He joined the CFI following a distinguished career in the health, medical, research, and academic fields spanning 40 years. Prior to this role he was the Sir John and Lady Eaton Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) was created as an independent, non-profit organization by the federal government. The Foundation’s goal is to strengthen the capacity of Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals, and other not-for-profit institutions to carry out world-class research and technology development that benefits Canadians. By investing in research infrastructure projects, the CFI supports research excellence, and helps strengthen research training at institutions across Canada.
