(Wolfville,
NS) - Acadia University president and
vice-chancellor, Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb, today announced that
Acadia will help underwrite the living expenses of students who
receive Alberta Centennial Scholarships as long as they choose to
study at Acadia. Qualifying students will receive a matching $2,005
credit towards the cost of living in one of Acadia’s residences.
“The government of
Alberta has given Canadians and Canadian students a tremendous gift
and we want to show our support for this increased investment in
post-secondary education,” said Dr. Dinter-Gottlieb. “The $2,005
credit will be applied to the cost of living in residence on
Acadia’s campus for any students who meet our academic criteria for
admission and are recipients of one of Alberta’s centennial
scholarships. Tuition is only one component of the costs of earning
a university degree and Acadia wants to make sure deserving students
from across Canada have every chance of pursuing post-secondary
education.”
Dr. Dinter-Gottlieb
has written a letter to Premier Klein to thank him for his
province’s generosity as well as to all other Premiers and
Territorial leaders to let them know that Acadia is interested in
seeing their students on its campus.
