NS) - The 26th annual Huggins Science Seminar will begin
at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 4th in the K.C. Irving
Auditorium, Acadia University.
Guest speaker Dr. David Brillinger of the Department of Statistics
at the University of California at Berkeley will present a public
lecture entitled "Sure, have it your way - you heard a seal bark:" a
statistician's collaboration with a marine biologist.
Dr. Brillinger is a
University of Toronto graduate who was on a winning Putnam team. His
PhD is from Princeton, where he taught before going to Berkeley. Dr. Brillinger’s research is wide-ranging, but concentrates on
biometrics and particularly environmetrics.
The Huggins Science
Seminar was established in 1972 on the initiative of Acadia graduate
Dr. Charles Huggins, Nobel Laureate and former Acadia Chancellor.
