Acadia tops Maclean's reputational survey
as best overall for tenth consecutive year
For Release: November 9, 2003
(Wolfville,
NS) - It’s official . . . thousands of opinion leaders in
Canada have ranked Acadia University as the Best Overall, primarily
undergraduate university in the country for Maclean’s annual ranking
of Canadian universities. The prestigious honour has been bestowed
on Acadia for ten years running.
This year’s
reputational survey of opinion leaders was expanded to include over
11,000 individuals, up from 7,000 in previous years. The expanded
pool included high school principals and guidance counselors and
heads of national and international organizations, plus CEOs and
recruiters at corporations large and small.
Acadia also led the
reputational survey in the categories of Leaders of Tomorrow and
Most Innovative. In fact, it is the eighth consecutive year that
Acadia has topped the Most Innovative category, proving that the
Acadia Advantage program has had a significant impact on national
education and business leaders.
In the ranking of the
21 primarily undergraduate universities, Acadia retained its third
place standing. Acadia is particularly proud of advancing its
position in two categories that demonstrate its commitment to
students: the percentage who graduate and class size at the first
and second year levels.
Applications for
admission to Acadia have risen dramatically over the last five
years; a further testament to the University’s outstanding
reputation. The University’s international student population has
also increased, with a student body representing 74 different
countries.
