Acadia
welcomes students to conciliation process
For Release: December 3, 2003
(Wolfville,
NS) - The negotiating team for Acadia University has
invited the president of the Acadia’s Student Union (ASU) to be an
observer in the negotiating process.
The University has
been committed to providing students with accurate and up-to-date
information. This is another step in the process.
Dr. Cy MacLatchy,
Acting Vice-President Academic and Chief Negotiator for the
University, has notified Dan O’Rourke, President of the ASU,
inviting him to be an observer for conciliation.
Acadia University
Faculty Association (AUFA) walked away from negotiations on October
20, 2003. Acadia and AUFA had reached a tentative agreement on July
9, but unlike the AUFA negotiating team, the AUFA executive did not
recommend the agreement. A conciliator has been appointed by the
Labour Board of Nova Scotia.
