Acadia University joins Siebel Alliance Program as academic partner: A winning combination for eBusiness students

For Release: August 15 , 2002

(Wolfville, NS) -  Acadia University joins the Siebel Alliance Program as an academic partner to provide eBusiness students with a competitive advantage. Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL) is the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software. Acadia will utilize Siebel eBusiness Applications for hands-on instruction and research in the Fred C. Manning School of Business Administration. Acadia business students are learning leading-edge techniques to help them compete in today's fast-paced work environment.

Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of eBusiness applications software, enabling multichannel sales, marketing, and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web, in call centres, in the field, through reseller channels, and across retail and dealer networks. Over the past few years, Acadia's School of Business has made major changes to the traditional Bachelor of Business Administration degree program, integrating eBusiness management skills into most business classes. At each level of the four-year program, all Acadia BBA students are continually introduced to new developments and trends in eBusiness from a broad, cross-disciplinary perspective. The new partnership with Siebel Systems marks the next step in Acadia's eBusiness evolution by incorporating the latest Siebel 7 eBusiness applications software.

"Our students will learn business principles and skills using teaching materials that incorporate Siebel eBusiness Applications. We want to go beyond merely demonstrating and explaining eBusiness concepts, to having our students actually use and work with the applications in order to complete assignments," says Dr. Stephen Ash, Director of the Fred C. Manning School of Business Administration.

This unique initiative provides Acadia business students with a distinctive competitive advantage in today's fast-paced, global market. Businesses and public institutions accustomed to simply keeping up with technological change now run the risk of being left behind unless they are committed to a proactive accelerated program of innovation. Learning eBusiness skills and having access to the latest eBusiness software as part of their degree program effectively equips Acadia business students to meet the challenges facing them in their future work environment.

The Fred C. Manning School of Business Administration is a recognized leader in the use of technology in the classroom and has continued to develop exciting new teaching methods since the introduction of the highly acclaimed Acadia Advantage program.

"The Acadia Advantage program has already heightened the entrepreneurial instinct of our students from all disciplines. With students using technology at the leading edge, Acadia's business students will be the leaders in the new e-world," says Acadia President, Dr. Kelvin Ogilvie. "I am truly proud of our faculty in the Fred C. Manning School of Business Administration for recognizing the need for infusion of eBusiness concepts, practise, and experience in all facets of business education."
