(Wolfville, NS) - Life in friendly, small-town Wolfville offers students an environment rich in academic and extra-curricular activities. Nestled in this quiet town Acadia University is a unique place for students to grow and learn. Acadia's intimate environment and special programs are reasons for the University's recent enrolment achievements.Acadia's success in providing an atmosphere where students thrive is reflected in a 43 percent increase in applications over the past three years. Full-time undergraduate enrolment increased by one percent over last year while at the same time Acadia maintained a rigorous admission standard. "We are where we want to be in terms of student population," said Kim Meade, Director of Enrolment Management. She adds, "We are retaining the small family-feel at Acadia even as we continue to be noted for academic excellence of international stature."
While the award winning Acadia Advantage program, which fully integrates technology into the classroom, is one of the reasons that students choose to call the beautiful Wolfville campus home, they are also very comfortable in Acadia's family-like environment. Small class sizes, low student-professor ratios, an enriched curriculum and faculty and staff who know students by their names ensure that every Acadia student receives a personalized education. The caring and diverse Acadia community embraces students of all backgrounds. International student enrolment rose by 76 students this year, the highest increase among Nova Scotia's 11 universities, making Acadia a place where friendships develop between students from all regions of the globe.
In Maclean's newsmagazine, national opinion leaders have identified Acadia as Canada's best overall primarily undergraduate university. Acadia continues to offer an exciting mix of academics and student life. The outstanding learning environment and small-town setting both contribute to an atmosphere that is uniquely Acadia.
The intimate setting of Acadia was reflected in comments from visiting international high school counsellors. Many said that they would highly recommend Acadia to students from their countries. The value of education offered and unique retention programs for first-year students were often mentioned as reason for choosing Acadia. Other counsellors were so impressed with the welcoming Acadia campus that they would encourage their own family members to attend.
