(Wolfville, NS) - The dedication of Acadia University professors hasn't gone unnoticed by students. During an awards presentation last Friday, Aril 7th "Acadia's 10 Most Wanted Professors," were honored by their students.Using the Acadia Student Union on-line course evaluation web-site, developed and implemented for the first time this past academic year, students were able to rate their professors on a scale of 1-5, giving recommendations for each of their professors. "It worked well, congratulations to the profs. The results speak well of how much respect the students have," said Derek Andersen, Vice President, Academic of the Acadia Students’ Union.
The winners included, in descending order: 10. Dr. Andrew Mitchell, engineering; 9. Dr. David Duke, history; 7. Dr. Donald Stewart, biology and Dr. Ian Feltmate, business (tie); 6. Dr. Gregory Pyrcz, political science; 5. Dr. Peter Riddle, music; 4. Dr. Donald Bureaux, business; 3. Dr. Marlene Snyder, biology; 2. Dr. Malcolm Grieve, political science; 1. Dr. Maurice Tugwell, economics.
"It's a real honor. You spend a fair bit of time with your students and you begin to wonder about the impact you have. I treasure this award and it's a real special day for me," said Acadia's most wanted professor, Dr. Maurice Tugwell.
Derek Andersen will join with Acadia’s faculty and approximately 800 of his fellow students in the celebration of Convocation on May 14 and 15.
