Social and political protest movements have transformed societies and polities
in the twentieth century. This seminar course critically explores the emergence
and impact of women's movements, pro-democracy and human rights movements,
indigenous movements, and fuerrilla and revolutionary movements, among others.
We pay particular attention to the factors that cause social movements to
succeed or fail.
