POLS 4713 POLITICS OF SOCIAL MOVEMENTS

Social and political protest movements have transformed societies and polities in the twentieth century. This seminar course critically explores the emergence and impact of women's movements, pro-democracy and human rights movements, indigenous movements, and fuerrilla and revolutionary movements, among others. We pay particular attention to the factors that cause social movements to succeed or fail.
