A survey of Soviet Russia. This course traces the history of Soviet Russia from the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 to the collapse of Communism in 1991. Main topics and themes include the Bolshevik's consolidation of power under Lenin, the rise of Stalin, collectivization and industrialization, the Purges, Hitler's invasion of 1941, the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet system and the development of a new political order.
