This course will build on Biol 2033 laying a strong
foundation for third and fourth-year courses in ecology. Students will be
exposed directly
to theory in ecology, and in particular how empirical work deepens theoretical
understanding. In-class topics will include experimental
design, data collection and analysis, and introduction to modelling - all with a
focus on critical evaluation of ecological processes. Labs
will focus on strengthening the links between theoretical and empirical
approaches to ecology, through more complex experimental design,
analysis, visualization and development of models. (3h lab)
