PSYC 5026 RESEARCH DESIGN AND STATISTICS

The graduate seminar in Research Design and Statistics for students enrolled in the programme in clinical psychology comprises three parts. The first two parts will be designed to ascertain that the students master the principles of (a) statistical inference (Type I and II error, controls over the error rate) and (b) simple regression and analysis of variance. These two parts will be covered during the first twelve hours of the class. The remaining hours will be devoted to an in-depth exploration of multivariate procedures: multiple regression discrimination and canonical analysis multivariate analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, and exploratory and confirmatory (LISREL) factor analytic instruments. Assignments will be made on SPSS-X, thus providing students with extensive practice with this statistical package.
