NUTR 2703 INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION

Basic principles involved in interpersonal communication. Topics include verbal and nonverbal interactions, and the influence of values, beliefs, perception and social roles on communication processes. Barriers to communication in general and as they affect the professional, as well as interviewing and counselling processes, are discussed. Information gathering, writing, public speaking, and simulated interviewing and counselling scenarios are included in practical application of theory. This course does not serve as a science elective.

Prereq: Psyc 1023 or permission of the school
