HIST 3146 VICTORIAN ENGLAND

The political and social history of England in the 19th century, with particular attention to the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). The course begins with a brief review of the major developments during the latter part of the reign of George III and concludes with the Edwardian era. Emphasis will be on the growth of democracy and on the consequences of imperialism during the Victorian era and upon various aspects of Victorian life and thought.
