CHEM 4113 PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY 3

Principles of theoretical chemistry. The basic concepts of quantum mechanics are developed and applied to chemical bonding and molecular spectroscopy. The theory of point groups is developed and used with quantum mechanical principles to provide a quantitative treatment of the energetics and geometry of chemical bonding through both the valence-bond and molecular orbital theories.
