Volunteers

Meet the Volunteers

I've met some wonderful people who share a love of horticulture, became re-acquainted with folks I haven't seen for years, and the most amazing thing has been watching young children discover the world of plants and gardening."

Become a Volunteer

We're always happy to welcome new volunteers into our group. If you have a love of nature, people and plants we'd love to hear from you.

The Harriet Irving Botanical Garden’s volunteer program, the Green Team, allows community members to get involved with the happenings of the Gardens and Acadia University as a whole.

Our enthusiastic volunteers participate in all kinds of different projects. They seed, weed, plant, research propagation methods for native species, and help record general garden observations and PlantWatch data. Volunteers propagate new plants, work in the greenhouses watering and repotting the indoor collections. They give tours of the Gardens, collect seeds, and work at public events ranging from Orchid Society shows to Natural Wreath Making Workshops.

The volunteers don’t spend all of their time at the Gardens. They also go on field trips to natural Acadian Forest Region Habitats. Volunteers also generously contribute plants to the Medicinal and Food Collection through plant collecting and donations from their own gardens.
