NATURE COUNTS! at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens

Every Tuesday 6:30 - 8pm May 6 - Aug 26

DISCOVER THE BIODIVERSITY IN WOLFVILLE’S BACKYARD

   Join the Blomidon Naturalists Society & Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens on weekly monitoring walks through

   the Woodland Trails and Gardens. Meet at the Main Gardens Entrance 32 University Avenue.

  

   No registration needed, just put on a pair of comfortable walking shoes and show up! Great activity for families

   and nature lovers of all ages. Join us once, or join us every week. You're welcome to bring binoculars, field  

   guides and a camera and notebook. Dogs are not encouraged as they may scare away the woodland critters that

   we're looking to observe. DON'T MISS OUR SPECIAL FOCUS NIGHTS: June 10th Tyler Smith - Focus on

Free Guided Tours Saturdays and Sundays

   Discover the Gardens and learn about the unique plants of the Acadian Forest Region on a guided tour led by our

   summer Environmental Education students Alana MacDonald and Emily Laing. Meet in the Main Lobby

Mud Creek Kitchen Garden Party

Sunday, July 27th 1-4pm

  In celebration of Mud Creek Days children and adults are invited to an afternoon of music in the Gardens. 

  Proceeds go to Acadia University’s Shinerama in support of Cystic Fibrosis research. 

   1:00 Make your own musical instrument using recycled materials. Call to register for workshop. $5 

   donation/family.

   1:00 Bruce Friscos live under the Siberian Elm tree

   2:00 Bring your own instrument and jam with local musicians

   3:00 Mark Durkee under the Siberian Elm tree

   Enter your homemade instrument in a friendly competition. Prizes will be awarded for: ‘Most Creative’, ‘Best  

   Sounding’, ‘Best Looking’ and ‘Most Biodegradable’

Friends of the Gardens

Weekly meetings in the potting shed Our group of garden volunteers meet every Tuesday morning from 9-11am throughout the season. Tuesday mornings are spent gardening, collecting seeds and propagating plant material. New members always welcome! Current projects include working on a spring plant sale and making natural tree ornament. Please visit our Volunteer page for more information.
