Acadia Centre for the Study of Ethnocultural Diversity

About : Our Mission

The mission of the Centre is to encourage and facilitate interdisciplinary research on ethnocultural diversity. By drawing on the talents and resources of researchers from all faculties at Acadia University, the Centre brings into dialogue in productive new ways the theories and methodologies of a wide range of disciplines. The scope of research embraces all levels of the global, societal, cultural and personal over time and in different locales. The Centre's work is underwritten by the conviction that advances in the understanding of ethnocultural diversity can promote a positive appreciation of such diversity, enhance intercultural communication, and help overcome the inequality and injustice that historically marginalized ethnocultural communities have often faced in dominant cultures.
