All my books have dealt with ethno-cultural diversity. I am currently at the early stages of a new project exploring the evolution and current transformations occurring within the 77 million member Anglican Communion that grew out of the Church of England, subsequently spread around the globe through the British Empire, and is now threatened with imminent schism. Currently, there are far more Anglicans in the South or developing countries than there are in the West. I am exploring three major themes: a) the key ways Anglicanism has changed over the last century in the very different circumstances of the South and the West; b) why Anglicanism is prospering in the South while it falters in the West; and c) the future prospects for the Anglican Communion. To pursue these objectives, I am doing fieldwork and conducting interviews in a cross-section of dioceses in the Anglican Church of Canada, the Anglican Church of Kenya, and the Church of South India. In Canada, I will be working in the diocese of the Arctic, the diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and the diocese of Toronto.
